Triple A Radio Informer May 2015

I don’t care what the calendar says as Summer is definitely here and that means any allusions to water are welcome.  May I cast your attention to an 18 year old from Derry, Ireland.  Her name is Bridie Monds-Watson but you can call her SOAK.  The single is “Sea Creatures” and it’s already been declared one of NPR’s “Songs We Love”.  Her debut album, “Before We Forgot How to Dream” comes out on June 2.

Anybody play the mobile app game Fruit Ninja?  I’m addicted to it and the exploding fruit reminds me of the artwork to Good Old War’s “Tell Me What You Want From Me”.  The song is just as infectious as Fruit Ninja and all your favorite stations are starting to agree, as this song is exploding (ha, see what I did there) up the charts.

Is there anything more wonderful than summertime love?  Holly Miranda‘s “All I Want Is To Be Your Girl” is so infectious and fun and the perfect summertime song.  If I was still single I would want Holly to sing this song to me but I’ll just have to settle for hearing it on the radio.

What’s the summer like without getting in a little trouble? “I don’t need no trouble, But it’s plain to see Sometimes trouble needs me”, so The Weepies sing on this intriguing single from Deb Talan and Steve Tannen. The married couple that are also married to this band,  Radio is also intrigued as I’m starting to see spikes of airplay from across the nation.

More summer time songs on this issue include Bad Suns “We Move Like The Ocean” .  The feel good reggae vibes of “Wherever You Go” from Sublime with Rome.  A timeless call for peace from Xavier Rudd with “Come People“.  Summertime is a time to reminisce and Jason Isbell is back with a song that takes me back to the 90s.  It’s his tribute to all things about his hometown of Athens, Georgia with “24 Frames”.  Last but not least, our sampler concludes satisfyingly with the soulful voice of Anderson East and “Satisfy Me”.  Enjoy!
