2015 January Hot AC Issue

AC201501Welcome to the almost-every-song-is-by-an-RCA-artist issue! The label jumped out at the crack of 2015 and booked most of this issue. The early bird  got the worm! Kelly Clarkson‘s new song, “Heartbeat Song” is all but a forgone conclusion massive hit as I write. Already Top 15 at Hot AC and AC this song is headed to the top slot at both charts and probably Top 40 as well. Next we once again feature one of the catchiest, sing-along songs in some time. “Shut Up And Dance” by Walk the Earth is approaching #1 at Alternative radio and catching on at Hot AC as well.  Speaking of Alternative crossovers, Cage the Elephant‘s “Cigarette Daydreams” is currently #1 and launching at Hot AC. This song grows on you! So does “Elastic Heart”, the follow-up to Sia‘s massive hit, “Chandelier”. It takes a couple listens to get under you skin. Did I write that Walk the Earth had one of the catchiest songs in some time? Well check out “Rollercoaster”, the new Bleachers tune. The chorus is contagious! Who is Prince Royce and why did he make a massive throw back 80s dance groove in 2015? Geoffrey Royce Rojas hails from The Bronx and has a history releasing major-selling Spanish language music…. until now. Just listen to “Stuck On A Feeling” to discover why. Another fresh (and beautiful) face on the scene is Christian Burghardt from Portland, Oregon. “Safe Place To Land” is an anthemic blast of pop along the lines of Gavin DeGraw‘s best efforts. Don’t miss Scars On 45‘s follow-up to “Crazy For You”. “Tasted Every Tear”, from Scars upcoming album Safety In Numbers, is a great song that features the UK bands one-two  punch singing of Danny Bemrose and Aimee Driver. Check out Banks, otherwise known as Jillian Rose Banks, who’s single “Beggin For Thread” has been all over Alternative radio. Dark, brooding, but very melodic and haunting, “Beggin For Thread” is very much in the vein of Hozier. Finally settle down with Swedish singer, Zara Larsson‘s “Uncover”, a multi-platinum song in Norway and Sweden and deserving of the same here in the U.S. Thanks for listening!
