2014 June Hot AC Issue

HAC201406-MaddenBros-CapitolAs the Summer heats up, so the Hot AC radio releases! Looks like another hit brewing for Capitol with Good Charlotte’s Madden Brothers, caught in the act of reinventing their sound and image with the colorful, familiar, yet fresh-sounding “We Are Done”. This should be a hit for Top 40 as well as Hot AC. Marie Miller is back with “6/2”, the song picked by lucky programers who got to see her perform during recent station visits. SIRIUS Pulse is registering big sales from airplay. Bleachers, the alter-ego brainchild of FUN lead guitarist, Jack Antonoff, crosses to Hot AC after a Top 5 run at Alternative radio. Look for the full-length, Strange Desire, in mid-July.

Betty Who?? She’s Aussie Jessica Anne Newham, who, while attending Berklee College of Music, met producer Peter Thomas resulting in the #1 Billboard Dance/Club Play Songs chart “Somebody Loves You”. You may be familiar with the over 11 million-viewed YouTube Home Depot video… Programmers talking about John Mayer’s take on Beyonce’s “XO” as being the best recent Hot AC tune from him. Six-time Grammy nominated Janelle Monae, who sang on FUN.’s “We Are Young” revamps David Bowie’s “Heroes” for Pepsi’s Beats the Beautiful Game soccer celebration album. Pretty cool. Don’t miss Sia’s first single, “Chandelier” from her sixth album 1000 Forms Of Fear. Wow! Alexis Keegan’s “Worry No More” debuts a new talent with a great voice! Reprised on this issue are two destined hits: Daughtry’s “Battleships” and Capitol Cities “One Minute More”. If you’re not playing these tunes, what are you waiting for?!
